Hopefully when we learn about the kingdom of God our eyes will be opened, just like Jonathan's. After his resurrection Jesus appeared to travelers on the road to Emmaus. When they spent time with Jesus "their eyes were opened." (Luke 24:31)
We need to nurture our spiritual vision. God tells us to "fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:18)
Jonathan was so happy. Why not? As Christians we know that our citizenship is in heaven right now! (Philippians 3:20) We are told to "rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven." (Luke 6:23) The Bible explains that "God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus." (Ephesians 2:6) Imagine, God himself will live with his followers in heaven! (Revelation 21:3)
The Lord, the great I AM, is our home!!
My prayer is that you are home too.
